400 Person Party

5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

4:00 p.m. – Guests leave Las Vegas for Sandy Valley Ranch (SVR) for an hour’s trip back in time to the Wild West of 100 years ago. Transportation provided by the Client. SVR can provide transportation for an additional fee. If desired and for an additional fee, the bus can stop and pick up a hitch-hiking Western Character in Jean to entertain with questionable humor, cowboy poetry and cowboy lies (which are basically the same thing) for the last half of the ride to the Ranch. He will remain with the guests during the event and provide further entertainment.

5:00 p.m. – Guests arrive at Sandy Valley Ranch and are greeted by B and cowboys on horseback that will “hold-up” the guests and direct them to the Ranch House for a warm Western welcome and orientation. Guests will receive souvenir bandanas and straw cowboy hats to get them in the spirit!

Throughout the Games – Nibblin’s and Drinks – That’s cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for the fancy cowboys. The Client will choose two hors d’oeuvres. Soda, coffee, tea and bottled water will be available. Alcohol will be available if provided by the Client. Cost for SVR to transport alcohol: $100.

The following portion of the event will be like a Western Fair with guest moseying through the various activities at their leisure.

5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Western Activities and Games – Guest can observe and or participate in the following activities:

Axe Throwing – Guests learn the knack of throwing a tomahawk-like axe at a target. It takes both skill and grace and ladies seem to get the knack of it quicker than the guys. Of course, hay cubes are awarded for each hit. Throwin’ at the boss is discouraged!
Box Hockey – This is an old cowboy game similar to foosball.
Bucking Barrel – Participants mount a barrel tethered about four-feet off the ground (as if riding a buckin’ bronc) and are bounced up and down by our ranch hands. This simulates what it is like for cowboys who ride Broncs but is much safer. It really warms up the group, and gets ‘em hootin’ and hollerin’.
Cow Pie Toss – The objective of this game is to toss a dried cow pie (cow poop) into a hoop on the ground. Participants wear gloves and it’s a lot harder than it sounds (no pun intended).
Horseshoes – This is the traditional horseshoe pitching game where participants “pitch” (throw) horseshoes a distance of approximately twenty-feet and try to get a “ringer” (throw the horseshoe around the metal stake), a “leaner” (lean the shoe against the stake), or “closest-to-the-pole.”
• Roping Lessons – Participants are instructed on how to use a lasso, just like cowboys do ropin’ cattle. Guests practice on a “fake and friendly” steer (but watch out, we’ve noticed he dodges to the right).

• Antique Wagon and Surrey-with-the-Fringe-on-Top Rides to Cow Camp
– Guests will climb into the world’s oldest means of transportation for a short, scenic ride through the mesquites. The Wagon holds fourteen people and the Surrey eight. Trips will be made back and forth throughout the activities. Hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and games will be available at Cow Camp as well as on the Ranch. Our “gentle giants,” huge Belgian draft horses, pull the wagons.

7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Cowboy Show– This is a friendly, fast and exciting show featuring activities that are part of real cowboy life. It includes some audience participation and lasts approximately one hour.

• Grand Entrance – Wranglers and wagon race into the arena to stirring Western music and stand at attention for the Star Spangled Banner.
• Team Roping –
Wranglers break from the chute at top speed and rope a steer.
• Zorro –
Zorro, mounted on his beautiful black stallion, chases and defeats our evil clown.
• Team Penning
– After a demonstration by our Wranglers, two teams of 5 guests mount up to compete at penning our herd of ornery cattle. Fastest time wins.
• Barrel Racing
– Wranglers compete to see who can complete the course in the shortest time.
• Goat Dressing
– Teams are chosen from the audience to see who can catch one of our friendly goats and dress it in a t-shirt and shorts in the quickest time. Ribbons are awarded.
• Mounted Shooting
– Wranglers race through polls from opposite sides shooting playing cards on poles with single action Ruger Vacaro 45s loaded with black powder (no bullets).
• Calf Chase
– Teams are chosen from the audience to see who can catch the calf and remove the bandana tied to its tail in the shortest time.

In between acts, our resident Cowboy Poet, talkative Wranglers, and Ranch Clowns cause general consternation with their antics.

*This is a general outline. Alternate events may be substituted from time to time due to circumstances.

8:00 p.m. – Lip-Smackin’ BBQ Dinner – Guests will mosey into the Ranch House to fill up at our delicious Cowboy Buffet of lip smackin’ ribs, and grilled barbequed chicken. Side dishes included are: a mixed green salad with choice of 2 dressings, cole slaw, home-made hot corn bread, cowboy beans, and potato plus coffee, soda, tea, bottled water and alcoholic beverages (if purchased by the client.) A tasty dessert tops off the meal. Please see attached menu for other dinner choices, if desired.

After Dinner – Line dancing instruction will be provided in the Ranch House while a Country Western Band plays some boot stompin’ music in the entertainment tent. The band can play other styles of music if desired. Campfires will be burning for those guests desiring quiet time to relax.

10:00 p.m. – Guests bid a sad farewell to the Ranch and head back to the 21st century.
