3:00
p.m. –
Guests leave Las Vegas for Sandy Valley Ranch (SVR) for an hour’s
trip back in time to the Wild West of 100 years ago. Transportation
provided by the Client. SVR can provide transportation for an additional
fee. If desired and for an additional fee, the bus can stop
and pick up a hitch-hiking Western Character in
Jean to entertain with questionable humor, cowboy poetry and cowboy
lies (which are basically the same thing) for the last half of the
ride to the Ranch. He will remain with the guests during the event
and provide further entertainment.
4:00
p.m. – Guests arrive at Sandy Valley Ranch and are
greeted by Bandits and cowboys on horseback
that will “hold-up” the guests and direct them to the
Ranch House for a warm Western welcome and orientation. Guests will
receive souvenir bandanas and straw
cowboy hats to get them in the spirit!
4:30
p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – Western Activities
and Games – Guest can observe and or participate
in the following activities:
•
Axe Throwing – Guests learn the knack of
throwing a tomahawk-like axe at a target. It takes both skill and
grace and ladies seem to get the knack of it quicker than the guys.
Of course, hay cubes are awarded for each hit. Throwin’ at
the boss is discouraged! • Box Hockey – This is an
old cowboy game similar to foosball.
• Bucking Barrel – Participants
mount a barrel tethered about four-feet off the ground (as if riding
a buckin’ bronc) and are bounced up and down by our ranch
hands. This simulates what it is like for cowboys who ride Broncs
but is much safer. It really warms up the group, and gets ‘em
hootin’ and hollerin’.
• Cow Pie Toss – The objective
of this game is to toss a dried cow pie (cow poop) into a hoop on
the ground. Participants wear gloves and it’s a lot harder
than it sounds (no pun intended).
• Horseshoes – This is the
traditional horseshoe pitching game where participants “pitch”
(throw) horseshoes a distance of approximately twenty-feet and try
to get a “ringer” (throw the horseshoe around the metal
stake), a “leaner” (lean the shoe against the stake),
or “closest-to-the-pole.” • Roping Lessons – Participants
are instructed on how to use a lasso, just like cowboys do ropin’
cattle. Guests practice on a “fake and friendly” steer
(but watch out, we’ve noticed he dodges to the right).
Throughout
the Games – Nibblin’s and Drinks –
That’s cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for the fancy cowboys.
The Client will choose two hors d’oeuvres. Soda, coffee, tea
and bottled water will be available. Alcohol will be available
if provided by the Client. Cost for SVR to transport alcohol: $100.
5:00
p.m.– Arena Events –
Gangs move to our professional arenas to compete in the following:
• Team Cattle Penning –After
a demonstration by our Wranglers, each Gang will choose 5 members
who will develop a strategy, mount our well-trained horses and move
a herd of cattle from one end of the arena into a pen at the other
end. This is usually done at a walk. Guests watching have as much
fun as the participants, yelling advice (and sometimes good-natured
insults) to the riders. The Client may wish to choose the Gangs
in advance.
6:00
p.m. – Lip-Smackin’ BBQ Dinner –
Guests will mosey into the Ranch House to fill up at our delicious
Cowboy Buffet of lip smackin’ ribs, and grilled barbequed
chicken. Side dishes included are: a mixed green salad with choice
of 2 dressings, cole slaw, home-made hot corn bread, cowboy beans,
and potato plus coffee, soda, tea, bottled water and alcoholic beverages
(if purchased by the client.) A tasty dessert tops off the meal.
Please see attached menu for other dinner choices, if desired.
7:00
p.m. – Guests bid a sad farewell to the Ranch and
head back to the 21st century.
